Gloria Anzaldúa describes the relationship between art and life writing “…my people, the Indians, did not split the artistic from the functional, the sacred from the secular, art from everyday life.” It is precisely this marriage between art and everyday life that defines what I do. My hands recreate the world around me; the world I grew up in. My work reflects summers spent in Mexico, afternoons reading “Love & Rockets,” and a lifetime love affair with all things connected to La Lotería and el Dia de los Muertos.
